BWB are an integral part of the team delivering the exciting New Bermondsey regeneration scheme, one of the first new Housing Zones to be created in London. Led by developers Renewal, the high profile 30-acre development will build a thriving new neighbourhood of 2,400 new homes and create over 2,000 new jobs. The high profile scheme will also include a centre for sporting excellence, new community facilities and the creation of an overground railway station.

The BWB London Office has a strong track record of working on landmark projects in London such as Millharbour Village, Lewisham Gateway and the Strand East project near the Olympic Park. This wealth of transport planning experience was utilised by Renewal during the scoping and construction phases of the new train station. Up to £20m will be spent on the station itself while additional transport improvements include a bus interchange and cycling infrastructure.

The new Housing Zones are designed to transform key areas of the capital by bringing in £260m of new investment and delivering 28,000 new homes across 9 boroughs.

Key Challenges

BWB understood the need to manage the negotiations between Renewal and Transport for London as well as other key stakeholders such as LB Greenwich, the Greater London Authority, London Overground and London Buses.

BWB concentrated on underpinning the transportation links and the surrounding urban realm to ensure seamless connectivity and the creation of a strong local identity to the new area. BWB also had an appreciation of the desire to create a sense of place for local residents whilst maximising the return for the stakeholders.
