Twitterised: Me in less than 140 characters.

As a devoted family man and habitual workaholic I’m often confused about who I am but friends tell me I’m a trustworthy caring individual.

Why I decide to do what I do

I grew up in a construction biased environment but enjoyed physics at school and as a hobby worked on cars. The move into mechanical building services engineering was an obvious one for me.

My potted history

Born and raised in Southampton I always had an ambition to either sail for a living or join the army. Getting a place at university killed the potential army career and eventually moving to the Midlands also extinguished the opportunity to sail properly, although I’m learning this skill now on whatever ponds I can find. Having finished A-Levels in Southampton I went to study Building Environmental Engineering at the University of Bath where I met my now wife. After university we stayed in the West Country for ten years which is where we had our daughter who is proud to call herself a Bristolian to all of her Birmingham friends where we have forced her to grow up for the past ten years – the battle for the worst accent is often amusing! I’m lucky to have a great group of friends, mainly linked to my daughters school, which results in a weekly ‘fat dads’ football game, many camping weekends, a ski holiday and even professional Morris Dancing.

The best project I have ever worked on at BWB

Bringing the noble art of mechanical and electrical building systems engineering into the business – how did the business ever survive without us?

What I like to do in my spare time

Many sports, including football; swimming; running; skiing and dog walking together with being an active member of the school PTA and small scale residential development.

What I hope to be doing 5 years from now

Not really sure but hoping it involves lounging around on a beach in Hawaii spending the fortune I’ve won on the lottery – although this is unlikely given I haven’t bought a lottery ticket in around 15 years.
