BWB supported Frontier Estates in the successful acquisition of the Former GE Lighting Facility in Enfield, with the land providing a large development opportunity in the north of London, close to the M25. The acquisition was completed under the agreement of a Deed of Environment Related Responsibilities, the terms of which were agreed between the Vendor and the Client with support from BWB. Investigation and DQRA, as part of due diligence by BWB, had provided clarity and also substantially reduced the nature and extent of risks and liabilities that were associated with ownership of the site.

The final Remediation Strategy required targeted assessment and validation where necessary, of a number of potential areas of concern identified in previous work, as well as remediation of groundwater impacted by Xylene and Ethylbenzene in the south of the site. Investigation/treatment of the potential areas of concern and subsequent validation of the site was phased throughout the demolition and site enabling works with completion and regulatory sign off achieved in September 2009, at the same time as plots became available for development. Regulatory sign off also enabled the satisfactory fulfilment of the Deed of Environment Related Responsibilities, ensuring that all liabilities had been fully mitigated.
