QMP provided Building Design and Project Management services for the stunning interior refurbishment of the Students’ Union building at University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.

The design of the Students’ Union at the School of Oriental and African Studies is a contemporary response to the wishes and aspirations of the students. It fulfills the requirements of the full spectrum of nationalities, and allows a mix of all cultures to use the spaces, offering social and relaxation spaces, as well as recreation and study areas. Refurbishment of the existing Students Union, Common Room, Offices, Shop, Bar and Toilet facilities.

The refurbished space provides approximately 18%more space for social and administrative functions which includes new offices for the general manager and sabbatical officers as well as a new shop. The project has been designed with the environment in mind and great care and collaboration with the University has been taken in identifying and using recycled material where possible. The new Students Union Bar has been created from the recycled bar, old staircase and railway sleepers.
