Southwater Leisure District incorporates prime town centre offices, new leisure space including cinema, hotel, restaurants and the Council's extensions to the existing Ice Rink, Mecca Bingo and Ten Pin Bowling; additional hotels, non-residential institutions including a public library, and 600-space multi storey car park.

BWB undertook detailed design through to working drawings of the mechanical and electrical services for the Premier Inn on the site. Public realm works, such as street lighting and incoming utility services, were undertaken for the full site to create a square to fully meet the client's expectations.

BWB undertook shell and core design for the retail units and the cinema, allowing specialist contractors to complete the fit out for the popular restaurant brands.

Key Challenges

Interaction and co-ordination with client's project team and fit-out contractors was improved through good communication to ensure expectations were met. A key understanding of the use of the public realm space and associated facilities was required to deliver a successful project.
